Times Square, circa 1979. Peculiar teen lesbian love story involving a rich girl and a poor punk who meet in a psych ward in NYC, run away together and start a protest movement against the sanitization of Times Square--which incidentally has been spearheaded by the rich girl's father. The protest consists largely of listening to lots of New York Dolls and the Ramones, dropping tvs off skyscrapers and starting their own band. Tim Curry plays a sleazy, Nightfly-type dj who eggs them on over the air.

Objectively speaking, it's a bad movie, but I'm still fond of it. I was only a little older than those girls when the movie came out, and I felt like the bad poetry they recited to each other could have been written by me.

Highlight was the punk girl, brokenhearted and raging, tearing up their apartment, with Patti Smith's "Pissing in a River" in the soundtrack.
