Sat, November 13, 2004 - 7:34 PMYeah, I love it when the insects all get together to write that message on the wall!
The movie is based on the book "The Prometheus Bug."

Re: bug
Sun, April 3, 2005 - 10:47 AMYes, it was rather interesting.
Not completely original though.
Do any of you remember the movie where the intelligent ants were being studies by scientists in a dome and they kept evolving?
Another great ant film, though there were even dumber than in real life, was THEM.
I would have like to see something more like the underground action in that in the Starship Troopers movie, which was so lamely done the director should hide in shame. -

Phase IV, which is somewhat difficult to locate. Alas. I enjoyed it very much.

Tue, April 5, 2005 - 11:48 PMThose are both two of my childhood faves! (Phase IV and Bug)
Both scared the hell out of me. Bug I've seen on cable a few times since, but I've never seen Phase IV again.
Is it me or was there some weird sexual undercurrent in Phase IV??
I loved those insect movies. Empire of the Ants with Joan Collins! There was another one about ants taking over a resort - It Happened at Brentwood Manor or something like that? -

Thu, April 7, 2005 - 11:36 PMSpit take!!
I'll never look at the opening of Vertigo in quite the same way...
As to Bug, yeah Wm. Castle's a writer on it but the director is Jeannot (Jean) Szwarc who brought us such gems as Jaws 2, Supergirl, and Somewhere in Time (OK I like that last one) - also does lots of TV.

Re: bug
Thu, April 7, 2005 - 8:10 PMI agree. Giant bug films are really interesting.
Anyone remember the "Mantis" film?
Or how about "The Black Scorpion"? That one scared my sisters so bad for years that all I had to do was mention it and they were creeped out.
The whole radiation and giant bug phase was one of the great periods of the old b-movie genre.
I wish we could have a revival of them at drive-ins. Hmm, drive-in b-movie fest..... -

Re: bug
Thu, April 7, 2005 - 11:31 PMYou mean The Deadly Mantis? I love the big long tracks he makes in the snow - the mantis-prints!
Not a radiated bug, but as far as the giant critters genre in general goes, It Came From Beneath the Sea is one of my faves. I cant believe there haven't been more angry octopus movies made!
