So what do you think is actually the worst movie ever made?

I think Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is right up there.

In my opinion it is Above the Rim. The only movie that I have actually walked out of, at a $1 theatre. The other movies that sucked are the same ones I don't remember. So it works for me.

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" After a quarter-century, still the worst piece of shit I ever paid money to see.

Troma's early 80's venture into romantic sex comedy Stuck On You. Featuring Prof. Irwin Corey. It's not even entertainly bad like most of Troma's output, just awful. Bad, wooden acting like you haven't seen since the dawn of film.
            • Re: Worst Movie Ever? Troma films and people.

They have a flair for bad, but that is intentional as you say.

I've had some good conversations with their very weird head man during dinners at some of the big conventions I've gone to.

              He's really strange but fun.

Funny side note, the guy you see just to the right of me in my profile pic has been in about 8 Troma films, and tons of others.

Boy oh boy, three way tie --> Bandits, Freddy Got Fingered, and The Flintstones.

Runners up: Saw, Starship Troopers 2, and Terminator 3

So many different ways at this.
Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones should be burned.

Misson to Mars is the worst Hollywood movie I've ever seen. It was physically painful to remain in the theater. Had to. It was a work outing.

I have to ask... what do you do for work that caused you to sit through Mission to Mars?

Did you sue the company for harassment?!?

Actually, that little outing was instrumental in my decision to quit working for that place.

It was one of those little Seattle tech companies that started up just exactly as The Boom began its nosedive. Taking us to the movie was one of those cute little employee morale things they used to do--we were too cut-rate for things like champagne and sushi parties and slides in the playroom.

It was a singularly depressing event because the so-called morale even happened on the same day they announced their first round of layoffs. Somehow, the company and that utterly depressing spaceship are forever linked in my mind.

<laughs> I watch it for the first five minutes or so, right up to where the bad scientist voiceover guy says... in an ominous voice...

                SARGASSUM!

Then I burst out laughing and shut it off. What a horrible, horrible movie.

Sounds about normal for some companies, one good bomb (or bad) deserves another......

Reminds me of Men in Tights, "maybe if you tell me the bad news in a good way it won't be so bad."
              • Re: Worst Movie Ever?

hahaha I actually really liked "Robin Hood: Men in Tights"

But then, I saw it while drunk at the drive-in, so that might have had something to do with it....

Mel Brooks has given us some great flicks!! BUT, he also gave us:

"Dracula, Dead and Lovin' It." Good god, man! How could he?!? That was just awful.

I am so glad I found this tribe!

I think the worst movie ever is Manos the hands of fate.
It is cool to break movie rules unless you don't know your breaking them.

I will have to say Jack Frost... the one about the mutated snow man who raped Shannon Elizabeth with a carrot!

Then it had a sequel that featured little evil snow babies that looked like styrofoam puppets. :(

I finally got to see Manos a few months ago. After all the buildup, I was expecting something a lot worse.

I found Manos actually fairly entertaining and watchable. Torgo is mesmerizing, and the gossamer-robed catfight is pretty good too.

I thought it was pretty bad on the first go round, but I really was hoping it would be fantastic so it would have had a hard time living up to my expectations.

However - I watched the Q&A that they have on there and then watched the movie again... and I really liked it. Quite a lot! I own it now. =)

It had some imagery which was nearly interesting, but other than that, I thought it was pretty vapid and sort of pretentious.

What did you like about it?
          • Re: Worst Movie Ever?

            Fri, January 28, 2005 - 12:35 PM
I liked some of the ideas in the flick, and the dialogue, and the bad acting that made it campy. And the amazingly crappy special effects. And the pacing. And how all the characters were so unlovable, they were lovable. I took it as a comedy, and we used to have "Liquid Sky" parties where we'd watch the flick (but not do heroin).

Fifteen years later, some of my friends still quote the movie to one another.

I think if I were new to it, and saw it today for the first time, I'd might just skim it and not enjoy it as much. But, like many movies, it was a marker of a time, a place, and group of friends for me. So I love it!

Many people love THE NEVERENDING STORY, but I would have to rank that one high on the list of Worst Movies That Neverending Should Have Been Made.
            • Never Ending Snorage...

We call THE NEVERENDING STORY 2 the "Never Ending "Snorage...

It actually caused an entire room full of people to all fall asleep at the same time.

3 definately should never have been made.

L LOVED Garbage Pail kids! But I was like in 3rd grade... maybe I should see it again! God I remember it being so dark and leery and awesome though. But I'm into puppets and stuff so...

Oh, thank you. I actually opened up the thread to put Liquid Sky in. It's absolutely my all time most hated movie. Not just disliked, but absolutely hated it. Funnily enough, my Dad thinks it's great. =)

The Star Wars Holiday Special probably comes second, if that counts as a movie. It's one of those that if you try to tell someone about it, it _sounds_ funny. It's NOT. It's horrible. I watched it once, and tried to show it to someone else, and I couldn't even make it through the first 10 minutes of wookie conversation.

Third... would probably be Fantasy Mission Force, sort of starring Jackie Chan. It's one of those where you just kind of watch it in stunned silence. Round about the time the pink flaming Chinese nazis riding cadillacs chariot style come into play... I mean, just don't watch it drunk or high, or anything. I can't imagine how much weirder it could possibly be. Oh, and the gay Chinese Scots with the plastic mace... Oog. Oh, and I own it. On DVD, no less. Don't ask me why, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Have you ever seen "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle"? It is definitely the worst movie ever... I think Bill Mayer was in it...long time ago anyway...

I haven't seen Santa Claus Conquers the M's tho..

That reminds me of "The Pirana Women", which may have been a spoof of it. It had Shannon Tweed & Bill Marr, about a clan of women who ate men with avocado dip.

Same movie - the full title is "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death", and the tribe is called "Piranha Women".

        imdb.com/title/tt0094834/

I don't know, it had some decent moments. =)

Jim: Well, no, but I have this paperback.

Grrr, yes really bad, but intentionally so.

A former friend and member of my SCA household, was the Director of Photography.

Bastard cost me a lead role in a movie, stole some blades and several hundred bucks.

      Liquid Sky..not bad..just creepy.

      Neverending story..great story..badly made

anything with bruce jenner trying to act...gotta be bad.
      • Mars Attacks is hilarious

        Wed, March 16, 2005 - 5:05 AM
I loved it as a great spoof.

I all most wet myself from the Tom Jones in Vegas scene when the BU singers were replaced by aliens.

Although I would have probably picked the song Daughter of Darkness for that scene, but it is not as widely recognized as his stuff.
